Lagerfeld sitzt an einem Tisch in seinem eigenen kleinen Laden 7L in der Rue de Lille, unweit des Seine-Ufers. Das Geschäft nutzt er, um von ihm ausgewählte Bücher zu verkaufen, als Fotostudio und als Bibliothek. In schlichten Stahlregalen sammelt er Tausende Bände: Proust, Schiller, Keyserling, aber auch prosaische Werke wie The Best of Business Card Design. Stapelweise Fotobände und Magazine liegen auf den Tischen. Dazwischen ein paar CDs von Tokio Hotel. So wie Dagobert Duck zu seiner Erquickung in die Goldmassen seines Geldspeichers springt, kommt Karl Lagerfeld hierher, um in Buchstaben und Bildern zu baden.
