Bill And Tom Kaulitz HAWTEN Up The Cover Of L'Uomo Vogue!

KUDOS to you, good people on the masthead of L'Uomo Vogue (Italy's Men's Vogue). You saw the Vogue potential in Tokio Hotel's Bill and Tom Kaulitz, and you made that cover happen. This, in the form of the twins Kaulitz on L'Uomo Vogue's music issue.
Bill looks slightly fin de siècle, slightly Panic At The Disco circa "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" era with impeccable, slicked-back hair, a Lanvin suit and Rick Owens boots (ahem, Lenny Kravitz!). And Tom's cleaned up nicely in Lanvin and DSquared2 -- a favorite of the boys.
Check out video footage of Bill and Tom's very high-fashion L'Uomo Vogue shoot (I tried on a jacket JUST like that blush jacket Bill has on when I went to a Halston sample sale, and OF COURSE it looks 1,000 percent better on Bill. Oberhausen - Im Februar haben Tokio Hotel einen Stern auf dem "Walk Of Fame" der Oberhausener König-Pilsener-Arena erhalten. Nun durften Fans die Auszeichnung an der Ehrenstelle vor der Spielstätte platzieren: Tatjana, Darleen, Hanna und Iszy sind die vier Glücklichen, die aus Hunderten Anhängern ausgewählt wurden.
Tatjana aus Recklinghausen hatte vor dem Konzert im Februar mit ihren Freundinnen Iszy und Hanna einige Nächte im Zelt vor der Arena campiert, um Tokio Hotel aus der ersten Reihe erleben zu können. Die 16-Jährige freute sich über die Aktion: "Wir hätten ja nie erwartet, dass wir den 'Walk Of Fame' von unserer Lieblingsband in Händen halten dürfen. Dafür hat sich das Bibbern im Februar doppelt gelohnt. Wir hoffen, dass wir Gustav, Bill, Tom und Georg bald wieder in Oberhausen live sehen werden."
Mit dem "Walk Of Fame", der von den Vorverkaufsstellen der Arena-Plaza bis zum Haupteingang der Halle verläuft, zeichnet die König-Pilsener-Arena Künstler aus, die "herausragende Erfolge" in dem Venue gefeiert haben. Bislang sind unter anderem Paul McCartney, David Copperfield, Santana, Kylie Minogue, Joe Cocker und Pink auf dem "Walk Of Fame" verewigt.

With the "Walk of Fame", which runs from the box offices of the Arena Plaza to the main entrance of the hall, the König-Pilsener-Arena honors artists, who celebrated "outstanding achievements" in the venue. So far immortalized on the Walk of Fame are Paul McCartney, David Copperfield, Santana, Kylie Minogue, Joe Cocker and Pink.

Christina: Who comes in my mind, spontaneously now, is Bill Kaulitz. Because last time I saw him live and in color.. I think that was 5 years ago. And they were just at their beginning, the boys were insanely little, actually.. and at their very beginning. When I look at Bill's wax statue now.. he became huge! I think he's 1,80 m tall now, or even 1,90 m. And.. it would just interest me now, because I know him only when he was little and now he's from the height bigger and in the music business bigger.

One wouldn't expect such fresh, almost adolescent curiosity on the handsome faces of Bill and Tom Kaulitz, the minds and hearts behind Tokio Hotel. They walk around the decadent rooms of Palazzo Biscuri, the splendid 18th Century palazzo in Catania, Sicily where the photo shoot took place, almost meekly, as if they don't want to disturb the "genius loci".
Considering their success, with a million records sold worldwide (the most recent, Humanoid, on the Universal label, having come out exactly a year ago), it would seem natural for these two young fellows - who have done so much at such a young age - to take everything for granted. And instead it's just the opposite: they seem shocked to find themselves here. "This palace is magnificent, an artistic treasure. There aren't places like this where we come from," says Bill with a slightly embarrassed smile.
He's referring to the East German village of Magdeburg, where the Tokio Hotel fairy tale began ten years ago. Already at the age of seven, the Kaulitz twins were playing guitar and experimenting with extravagant looks, which made them stand out as outsiders at school. Tom was obsessed with Aerosmith and the guitarist Joe Perry, while Bill was a huge fan of David Bowie and fascinated by the transformative talent of the "White Duke".

My opinion about the twins moving to L.A.
Well this is my opinion guys. I think this is true, but look guys there´s no reason the get mad. Personally I don´t think they´re going to stay there forever, it'´s just that Bild.de wants it to make it sound like they´re never going back to Germany which I doubt it, because that´s their homeland, ... & just because Gustav and Georg are not moving there to LA, that does not mean they´re going to break up, OK? And only because they´re in the USA, that does not mean they´re going to stop making music in German.... Some of you guys need to stop assuming things before the guys even say something... and some of you need to stop believing everything the media says... You know what is one of things I hate the most about this? Is to see fans hating on each other. Come on? Really? I´ve heard so many fans saying that they´re not going to vote for TH at EMas anymore only because Bill and Tom are moving to LA. Really? That´s really disappointing I must say... TH cannot be in so many places. And you know one thing? TH does not belong to ANYONE, so they can move to Asia or Africa if they want!So they can be far far away from Germany or USA! Some fans act like if the guys were your boyfriends or something... which they are not. You appreciate their music right? Then let them do what they love the most, wherever they are! Do you remember what Bill said in 2008 Rock in Rio during By Your Side??? No? He said, " And when we all leave this venue here, we´ll be going several ways, but never forget no matter where we go, we are always by your side" And you know guys, I'm sure they still mean it. In this case, "No matter what country, what continent we go, we are always by your side"... So only because they are not in Germany that does not mean they are never going back, that does not mean they are going to forget their fans from Europe, that does not mean they are going to break up, that does not mean they are going to stop singing in German. They´re going to USA to work on new songs and everything! If you are famous in USA, I believe you are famous everywhere, (even though they are known worldwide already) even though it´s hard to get in the USA market, but I know TH will make it, because I believe in them. So don´t get upset because of this, don´t be mad because of this. Because it´s really POINTLESS.

Wie BILD erfuhr, werden die berühmten Zwillinge schon im Herbst nach Los Angeles übersiedeln. Sie wollen dort mit ihrem Manager und Produzenten David Jost, der bereits seit einem Jahr in Beverly Hills lebt, gemeinsam neue Songs schreiben.
David Jost bestätigt gegenüber BILD: „Ja, Bill und Tom werden vorerst nach Los Angeles ziehen, aber sie werden weiterhin Wohnsitze in Deutschland behalten. Der Umzug nach LA ist für Mitte November geplant.“
Ihre Bandkollegen Georg (23) und Gustav (22) wollen in Deutschland bleiben, weil sie hier feste Freundinnen haben. Freunde der Band wollen wissen, dass neben der geplanten Arbeit im Tonstudio in LA auch die ständigen Verfolgungsjagden durch Stalkergangs und der Einbruch in eines ihrer Häuser in Hamburg weitere Gründe für den Umzug in die USA sein sollen.
Viel ruhiger wird es für die Zwillinge in Los Angeles aber nicht. Die Ansammlung von Stars ist zwar nirgendwo größer als in Hollywood, allerdings wurden Bill und Tom auch in LA bisher immer von Paparazzi gejagt.
Tokio Hotel verkauften bisher weltweit mehr als acht Millionen Tonträger. Mit Ihrer neuen DVD und ihrem Live-Album „Humanoid City“ erreichten Tokio Hotel weltweit in über 15 Ländern die Top 5 der Charts. In Deutschland, Brasilien, Mexiko, Kolumbien, Frankreich und der Schweiz stieg die Band in diesem Jahr auf Platz 1 der Charts ein. In Italien, Spanien, Portugal und Belgien belegten sie Platz 2.

As Bild found out, the famous twins will be moving to Los Angeles in the fall already.

The German band leader of sold-out,gold records and prizes who never missed since 2005.
But you know,prejudices are hard to die.In worldwide and not least in their homeland who saw them become successful,fed them with the national fame that allowed them to become star, doesn’t miss bitter critics from people stuck to their nickname as “boyband built just to give pleasure for horny teenagers”,people who aren’t able to look over by judging merely and incorrectly their style,by ignoring all improvements,the growth and sacrifices that led 4 young guys to become international stars.

After Scorpions and Rammstein, the most impressive rock phenomenon coming out of Germany is Tokio Hotel. The effective and melodious pop songs of the baby band (that attracts the average age of 15 year olds since their first album Schrei was released) tackle themes as cheeful as love, death, suicide, divorce, and even life after death, have found an important resonance next to adolescents. Tokio Hotel also has a completely unexpected look, created by the singer Bill Kaulitz, whose 'fireworks' haircut would make one pass Robert Smith's (the Cure) hair as a simple brush(?), and who, admittedly, wears things frankly laughable. Also, when we proposed a meeting with the drummer of the teenage band, we were frankly filled with questions. Are we going to have to have this meeting with a real rhythm fool? Be assured - Gustav is a truly good drummer, and thanks to his metronimic pulse, the Tokio Hotel phenomenon can groove without worries.
You all have 'turned back'(?) these last few years. Have you progressed by playing this much on stage?
G: Honestly, I think yes, at least I hope. According to my 'drumtech', I've made lots of progress. He knows what he's saying, since he's seen me play night after night. Also, I prefer that you ask him the question, because I'm intransigent enough towards myself, and I don't like "throwing myself flowers".
Are you frustrated by the fact that a lot of people consider you guys as phoneys, and ignore that you are good musicians?
G: You know, I think that there's also a bunch of people who know that we're secure on our instruments. I don't like that some take me as a pretentious type, but I started taking drumming lessons at the age of four, and today, I'm at a high level. Why not say it? I prefer not to count the people that think that I suck.
By the way, why did you choose drumming?
G: I was always drawn towards drumming. I believe that it's truly the instrument that I need, because I was an angry kid, a frustrated type. Finally, I found that all the beauty in this instrument resides in contrasts. One can hit it with all his strength, or even cherish it and play very softly. Yes, I admit I wanted to try out the guitar, which is equally as cool, but I got discouraged after an hour. (laughs)

G: Actually, I took some courses at a drumming school, but I always liked to learn tricks while playing, and (? can't understand this next part). I had, nevertheless, aqquired a lot of tricks in drumming with my teachers, but hey, theory and the rhythmic rudiments, they're not very exciting when you're a teen.

We know that Lars Ulrich is your idol. Have you had the opportunity to meet him?
G: Yes, I had been able to meet Lars in Germany, during Metallica's tour and I was truly quite crazy [to meet him]. It was totally incredible to meet this guy who had started my dreams. I love Lars's style. It gives background, and he produces an enormous power when he plays. I especially like the heavy songs of Metallica like "Enter Sandman" or "Sad But True". At the moment, I'm always pleased when playing one of their songs with great noise.

Besides Lars, what other drummers do you admire?
G: I find that Danny Carey of 'Tool' is... how do you say it... he is so talented that no word exists that can describe his style. If not, Jerry Gaskill, the drummer of the band 'King's X' is fantastic. I recommend him.

On the Humanoid Tour, your kit is installed on a large platform. What do you feel up there, when you're so high up?

Interview about the book by the Official Fan Club de Carrie in France!
1. First, what not everybody knows is, why, when and how did you found Designer Against AIDS ?
In 2004 when I was still a fashion journalist, after my assistant died of AIDS. It’s all in the book.
2. Why did you think about Tokio Hotel for your H&M campaign ? They are a lot criticized by the medias so people could had boycott DAA because you work with them…
I knew that Tokio Hotel has a lot of very motivated fans in the age group of 12 – 24 years and that’s exactly the group of people we try to reach with our safe sex message! H&M didn’t want them at first, they thought they only had fans in Germany ;-) But I persuaded them and now they are very happy that they agreed!
3. Were you surprised of the support for DAA from their fans ? Did it ever happened before that the fans of an artist gave a massive support or start fan action with your products ?
I was extremely surprised! Never before did we get such massive support as from the TH fans.
5. Your work with the Fashion and Music industry for your fight against AIDS, is there another Industry you would like to work with ? Some year ago you mention the sport industry and David Beckham…
Sport and also the film industry- in fact, every industry that has to do with young people. We just opened our first education Center in Belgium and we plan to open a second one in Los Angeles in a few years time, so I guess the plan to engage the film industry will work out !
4. On Internet , Tokio Hotel fans gave a massive support to a book. The Forbidden Floor, from the French author Caroline Sauvageot, is not published yet but like she offers the first part to read for free, Tokio Hotel fans from all over the world translated this beginning in English, German, Spanish, Russian, Greek, Portuguese and Serbian ! They all love this novel about the life of a rock band very similar to Tokio Hotel and the way the author explain through several characters, how it’s like to be a fan and what can be the relationship between a band and their fans. Why did you like in this novel ?
I like the way that the writer engages the fans, that they also helped with translating and that the book deals with aspects of being a successful band that many people don’t think about: feeling lonely sometimes or afraid if being followed too closely by fans - and Caroline also writes about the importance of safe sex, so of course we like that !
5. Do you think the teen- and young Literature miss their education role by ignoring that teens can also have a sexuality, rather than explain them to have safe sex ?
I think ideally both should happen : talk openly about sexuality and also tell youth that they should respect their own body and that of their partner. Being open is very important : in countries where people are secretive, you see many more problems than when the subject is out in the open. Ignorance can lead to a lot of bad stuff.
6. Could it be that Literature becomes a new industry to contact ? Could you imagine contacting teen best seller authors like Cecily Von Ziegesar who writes the Gossip Girls series or publishers who release junior collections to ask them to mention more safe sex in teen books ?
I already contacted some writers in the US who create books for young people, asking them to include safe sex in their stories as a natural thing. They never replied, but we will keep on trying !
7. Talking about book, DAA release a book end of October, what it is about ?
One half of the book is about our projects with Designers against AIDS, with lots of photos (including the one of Tokio Hotel in the 2009 FAA campaign, of which we also plan to make a poster. The other half deals with my art collective ‘Beauty without Irony’, for which I contacted hundreds of artists (including Bill and Tom Kaulitz) to ask them to send me art works and photos of what for them represents pure beauty. The result is over 100 very inspiring photos. One of the photos of Bill and Tom was taken from the stage in Paris on July 14, 2007, in front of half a million fans, with the Eiffel Tower in the background. Bill has said that this was one of the most beautiful moments in his life. The reason we show beauty in the book, is because it makes people realize that life is worth living. And if you feel that way, you will not risk your life or that of your partner by having unsafe sex.
We want to make the world a more beautiful place and you can do that in two ways: 1. Add more beauty (Beauty without Irony aims to do that) or 2. Take away some ugliness (this is what DAA does). They are two sides of the same coin and combined in the book !
8. Again, you worked with Tokio Hotel, what did you ask them this time ?
To send me images that for them meant true beauty.
9. The book is not released yet and yet the French Street Team plans promotion-actions to make of this book a best seller – at least in France. Are you in contact with the team ? Do you work together on the promotion-actions ?
We had a email saying they plan to do something in Lyon and I’m very curious to see what they will come up with - I’m sure it will be fantastic !
10. You and the author of the Forbidden Floor are from far the only adults who take the band Tokio Hotel serious, and then who also take us, their fans serious. Caroline Sauvageot have the aim to show in her novel all the work there is in the music and fashion industry, as well as she explains how an idol can be important for someone and mentions safe sex. And you also work with the fashion and music industry, and want to spread message to have safe sex. It seems you both have the goal to educate the youngs and you both face difficulties to get support. Tokio Hotel have serious message in their songs like “every every second because the time we waste never come back”, “don’t jump because nothing worth that we die for it”, “don’t do drugs because maybe it will be so good that you will never stop”. And lately in their new album, they say in a song that we should raise our voice and make some noise for the things we care. You three got serious messages then how can you explain that it’s not obvious to other people to help you ? How can you explain that they think you’re just dreamers and that you’ll never change the world ?
Well, that’s not strictly true, as more and more people, organizations and companies are willing to help DAA and spread the safe sex message in a cool way that appeals to youth. I think the problem in general is that adults often think they’re better (or know more) than teenagers. We will continue to support Tokio Hotel and the fans and I’m sure it works the other way around as well. Remember : action speaks louder than words. If people don’t see the good you’re doing, it’s their problem, not yours. Just continue, and one day they will see it. Or not. But even then, you still will have done lots of good - and what have THEY done? Don’t stress about it.

These days people are always going on about how Lady Gaga challenges notions of gender identity. We're not sure she actually does that. Why? Because she dressed up as a dude for Japanese Vogue? OK. But, most of the time, she's just an outrageous woman (who, make no mistake, we love). Nobody ever actually bought that "She's a man!" business the tabloids were pushing last year did they?
Anyway, it's nothing new. Crossdessing, gender bending and natural androgyny have long been rock n roll staples. Some go to great lengths and aren't fooling anyone. Others don't even have to try. Here's a look at some of those who have entertained and confused us over the years.

No, that's not one of those animatronic ''female companion'' robots being built by the Japanese. It's Bill Kaulitz of Germany's Tokio Hotel, the prettiest boy in modern rock. Singaporean fans were more than lucky as TOKIO HOTEL performed on our sunny island for the second time this year. Audrey Kua gets the band to divulge all their little secrets!
The boys of German band Tokio Hotel may appear cool and collected onstage and in their music videos, but what are the boys really like when they're not performing? Back in Singapore to perform at SINGfest, Teenage managed to steal some face time with the band to get to know them better. Chatty identical twins, Bill and Tom Kaulitz, and their band mates, Georg Listing and Gustav Schafer were very enthusiastic when it came to talking about their second performance here (which was way more explosive than the small showcase they did previously)!
"The crowd was amazing and the show was good. It was fantastic!" lead singer Bill says. His brother adds, "It was really different because we played our last tour in winter and it was freezing cold. It was easy playing two hours in the cold, but here, we could only play one hour in the heat!"
Unfortunately, due to a packed schedule, the boys were unable to watch the other performances that came before and after them, which were Wonder Girls and Katy Perry respectively. "Most of the time when you play with other artistes on the same stage, everyone has their own schedule. You're arriving just before the show and there's not much time to watch the other performances," Bill explains, to which Tom quips cheekily, "Was there a better performance that night? No!"
Now that the boys have released two English studio albums and fulfilled their dream of performing in Asia, what's next on their agenda? "We're not planning another record yet," says Bill. "But we are always in the studio collecting ideas and making music so we already have some new material. At the moment, we're still on the road with our current album, Humanoid. We want to see Tokyo. We want to visit more Asian countries and we would have to play at more concerts here."
Tokio Hotel: The Secret Files
We break down the walls and get Tokio Hotel to spill some of their secrets!
Secret #1: Do you have nicknames for each other?
Tom: We have a couple of new nicknames for Georg. We call him "Schpecky", which means fat guy. Sometimes, we also call him "Chick Georg" because his middle name is Huhn, and that means chicken in German.
Bill: This is really exclusive. I didn't even know that myself!
Secret #2: Who are the funniest and most mature members of the group?
Georg: I'm both!
Tom: Yeah, Georg is both. He's not majorly brainy but based on age, he's the oldest and most mature one. He's also the funniest one. Unfortunately, he's not funny on purpose. He's just really clumsy.
Secret #3: Who is your celebrity crush?
Tom: I don't really have one! (Bill makes a face of disbelief)
Bill: He's so in love with Jessica Alba! His room is full of posters of her. She's everywhere.
Tom: That's not true. It's not a celebrity crush because if you ask me, she'll say that her crush is Tom Kaulitz from Tokio Hotel.
Bill: She's married with a child!
Tom: Yeah but her celebrity crush is still Tom Kaulitz. I mean, she has a husband and all that but it's not important to her.
Bill: You know, I never hada celebrity crush. I think there are a lot of pretty female celebrities but I don't think I really had a crush on any of them. I really have to know their personalities first.
Secret #4: This question is for Bill and Tom. Have you ever woken up one morning and wondered if you should dress like your brother?
Tom: Never. We looked exactly the same during the first six years of our lives. But after that, we developed in completely different directions. we never thought of changing our styles.
Bill: The good thing is that we know how we would look if we were to dress like each other.
Tom: Yeah, and I just have to look at Bill to know what I'll look like with short hair.
Bill: And I can look at Tom and I know I don't want to look like that (shudders). I mean, when we were really young we would switch around sometimes.
Tom: We both had short hair, and we had these shirts with our names on them so that our teachers could tell us apart. Sometimes we would swap clothes when we were taking tests so that Bill, who was better at German than I am, could complete the tests for me.
Secret #5: What do you do when you're not performing?
Tom: We don't have a lot of free time, but when we have days off, we like to sleep long hours. If I didn't have an alarm clock to wake me, I could sleep for 24 hours.
Georg: Maybe even for the rest of your life!
Tom: Sleeping, eating and watching good DVDs. If we put all our DVDs together, we would have thousands of them! We are DVD collectors!

昨日の話になりますが、ドイツからのゲストのミーティング等でバタバタしてました。
残念ながらTokio Hotelのメンバーじゃありません。しかし、全く関係無いわけでもありません。
1人はTokio Hotelのマネージャー（Wow！！）背が高くイケメンでした。
もう1人はTokio Hotelを世界に送り出すUniversal Music Germanyの担当者！！こちらは更に背が高い、見下ろされる感じ。
皆さんに話せる段階ではありませんが、凄い進展だと思いませんか？

Interview: Bill Kaulitz on Overpacking and His Fashion Inspirations
Buzznet: Who are your style icons?
Bill Kaulitz: I don’t have a particular idol. There are many different people though who I like and get inspired by. Working with Karl Lagerfeld for instance was great. I adore him. I’m also a huge fan of Heidi Slimane. When it comes to music and appearance Steven Tyler is really impressive!
BN: What is your absolute favorite item of clothing?
BK: That’s a really tough question because there’s barely anything that I can spare while I’m on the road. I don’t have a specific piece of clothing – I simply need it all which is why I bring 10 to 20 suitcases with me. By now, my closets look almost like a clothing store. Even though I find it a little insane myself, I enjoy it a lot.
BK: Fur!!! I find it horrible that so many animals get killed for fashion because that’s not how it needs to be. Buying items made of artificial leather or artificial fur from the well know designers is not an easy thing, but when I get items custome made I always make sure that no animals are used for them.My hope is that the big and more expensive lables will start working like this and some more animals will be saved.
BN: Describe your look in three words or less
BK: I’m afraid that’s something I can’t do and would also limit myself too much. Every morning when I’m getting dressed I’d have to stick to exactly these three words. An absolutely horrible thought! I’ll leave it to someone else to make up the three words.
BK: I still need to write that one.
