The cover book
Five years of stories and style through 87 iconic covers
During these years, we have given you hundreds of stories in the words of famous and opinion-forming journalists, critics and writers. We have produced 87 covers taken by 23 of today’s leading photographers. In the November issue, we will show you them all again. The first that springs to mind is that of Michael Jackson, in a cover that could well be defined historic. It marked the great return of the “King of Pop” on a magazine cover (for the 25th anniversary of the release of “Thriller”), and to celebrate it, he chose L’Uomo Vogue. If we look instead at the photograph of Keith Richards, we can understand that wrinkles are nothing to be ashamed about for a man: they are like the grooves in a LP record, each of which tells of an adventure. Tokio Hotel represent the essence of rock-stardom, and Beyoncé Knowles has got more balls than many men. Browsing through this issue, you will find iconic names from all sectors: Rupert Murdoch, Al Gore, Nelson Mandela, Jimmy Wales (founder of Wikipedia), Don King, Matthew Barney, Cindy Sherman, Maurizio Cattelan and many more. All symbols of our time, people who, just because they exist become points of reference. Like Sean Penn, the present time’s ‘total actor’: in the mere seven minutes given us for the report (the time it takes to smoke a cigarette), he gave us an unbeatable lesson in style.SOURCE
