Erst vergangenes Wochenende hatten Tokio Hotel ihre selbstverordnete Öffentlichkeitspause unterbrochen, um bei der großen MTV Japan Spenden Sendung “Music Aid” aufzutreten. Dabei haben Tokio Hotel gemeinsam mit anderen internationalen und nationalen Stars Spenden für die Erdbeben- und Tsunami-Opfer gesammelt.
 Nun wurden auch die Gewinner der diesjährigen japanischen MTV Video Music Awards bekannt gegeben. Tokio Hotel haben als erste deutsche Rockband den MTV Award in Japan abgeräumt.
Wie MTV Networks nun offiziell bestätigt haben, konnte sich Tokio Hotel mit “Darkside Of The Sun” in der Kategorie “Best Rock Video” gegen alle anderen Künstler durchsetzen. Damit haben die vier Magdeburger nun weltweit alle großen MTV Auszeichnungen entgegen genommen: inklusive vier European Music Awards (u.a. für „Best Artist“ und „Best Headliner“), vier MTV Latin Awards (u.a. für „Best Song“) und den sonst fast unerreichbaren MTV USA Video Music Award als Best New Artist US (der zuvor an Künstler wie Nirvana, Guns N’ Roses und Eminem ging). Insgesamt haben Tokio Hotel bereits rekordverdächtige 92 nationale und internationale Preisauszeichnungen gewonnen und erhielt bisher unglaubliche 58 Mal Platin und 87 Mal Gold.
