Woman: … außergewöhnlichen DSDS-Kandidatinnen. Beide sind noch nicht sicher in den Live Shows, aber sie polarisieren. Die eine, die hat es schon mal in den Playboy geschafft.  … extraordinary female DSDS candidates. Both aren’t in the live shows for sure yet but they trigger controversy. One of them has already made it into the Playboy.
 

Wolfram Kons: Ja, und die andere hat schon jetzt über 21,000 Facebook Fans. Die zwei Top Ten-Anwärterinnen: Sarah Joelle Jahnel und Fairuz Fussi kämpfen heute beide noch um ihren Platz auf der großen DSDS-Bühne.
Yes, and the other one has already got more than 21.000 Facebook fans by now. The two contestants for the Top Ten: Sarah Joelle Jahnel and Fairuz Fussi are both still fighting for their spot on the big DSDS stage today.

Woman: Und gleich sind bei uns hier live im Studio und beide sind sehr speziell. Warum, das zeigen ihnen jetzt Anne Thiele und Jasmin Junior.

Voice-over: Hier muss man hingucken. Der einen auf den Kopf, der anderen ueberall hin und beiden ist egal was andere sagen. Sie machen ihr Ding und stehen dazu.
One has to take a look here. A look at the head of one of them, a look at everything of the other one and both of them are not bothered about what others are saying. They’re doing their thing and stand by it.

Sarah: Ich glaub‘ nich‘, dass die da draußen sagen „Juhu, die zieht sich aus. Toll. Super. Schick.“ Ich denke schon, dass ich da sehr polarisieren werde.  I don’t think that anybody out there says “Woohoo, she’s taking off her clothes. Great. Super. Neat.“ I do think that I’ll trigger quite some controversy with it.
 

Fairuz: Ich bin immer schon ‘n bisschen anders gewesen. Hab‘ schon mich in meinem Style von den anderen differenziert.
I’ve always been a little bit different. My styling already set me apart from others.
 

Voice-over: Und genau damit, mit ihrer eigensinnigen Art kommt Fairuz an. Auch bei der Jury.
And it’s exactly this headstrong way of hers that goes down well. Also with the judging panel.
 

Bill: Für 16 ist sie total mutig und ich finde sie ist total ‘n tolles Mädchen. Ich könnt‘ mir schon vorstellen, dass ich zwischendurch mal den Hörer nehme und erm…
She’s totally brave considering she’s only 16 and I think she‘s totally a great girl. I could imagine occasionally picking up the phone and erm…
 

Tom: So zwischendurch mal so $1,000 pre-paid-Karte holen und dann halt… *laughs*… mal halt…
Like, occasionally getting a $1.000 pre-paid [phone] card and then just… *laughs*… just simply…
Bill: Und dann mal… Und dann mal Fairuz‘ Nummer eintippen.

Voice-over: In ihrer Heimat München wird die 16-Jaehrige oft auf ihren Sidecut angesprochen und eine ist sogar so mutig den Fairuz‘ Look selbst auszuprobieren.   

The 16 years-old often gets approached about her sidecut [hairstyle] in her home city of Munich and one girl is even brave enough to try out the Fairuz look for herself.
Girl: Es gefällt mir echt sehr. Ich glaub‘, ich lass das jetzt mal so.
I really like it very much. I think I’ll keep it like this for now.
 

Voice-over: Top Ten-Anwärterin Sarah wollte es nicht so lassen. Wir kennen sie ja eher schrill und bunt. Jetzt zeigt sie, es geht auch anders. Hier beim Playboy-Shooting auf Mallorca. Sarah pur ohne viel Bling Bling, ohne Klamotte, aber nicht ohne anfängliche Zweifel.
Top Ten contestant Sarah didn’t want to keep it like this. After all we do know her to be rather flashy and colourful. Now she’s showing that there’s also a different way. Here at the Playboy shooting on Mallorca. Just Sarah without much bling, no clothes but not without initial doubts.
 

Sarah: Dann hab‘ ich mir auch Gedanken gemacht um meine Familie, weil die sind da eher sehr konservativ. Ich hab‘ mich jetzt dafür entschieden, weil ich mich auch irgendwie geehrt fühle, dass ich gefragt worden bin.
Then I also thought about my family because they’re rather very conservative. I chose to do it now because I also somehow feel honoured to have been asked [to do it].

Voice-over: Geehrt und geerdet. Die Haare natur, die Schminke dezent, die 23-Jährige gereift.
Honoured and grounded. Hair au naturel, subtle make-up, the 23 years-old [is] matured.

Sarah: Ich hab‘ schon oft erlebt, das meine Selbsteinschätzung da auch ziemlich falsch ist. Also, gerade jetzt nach dem ersten Casting bei DSDS. Da hab‘ ich erst mal gesehen wie überschminkt ich überhaupt war.
I’ve already often experienced that the way I see myself is also quite misguided in that case. Meaning, especially after [seeing] that first DSDS casting. That’s when I first saw how over the top caked in makeup I actually was.

Voice-over: Sich richtig in Szene zu setzen das hat Sarah jetzt gelernt. Nur durchboxen muss sie sich gemeinsam mit Mitstreiterin Fairuz jetzt noch bis zur Show.
Sarah now learned to present herself properly. Now she only still has to fight her way through to the show together with fellow contestant Fairuz.
