Tokio Hotel is a German band formed in Magdeburg in 2001, but the singer Bill Kaulitz along with his twin brother and guitarist Tom Kaulitz, the bassist Georg Listing and the drummer Gustav Schäfer finished it on time. These four members have sold more than 8 million albums and and dvds. Their visual and daring style like every old rock 'n' roll band. With an androgynous touch by the vocalist [that other people call it 'emo'] but somewhat more like Mick Jagger and David Bowie from 50 years ago. The problem today is that the 'critics' don´t understand that is just a repetition of history. And to think that everything started with a CD by the name Devilish. Despite being young, they had a good 'start' having recorded their first album. Already baptised as Tokio Hotel, in 2005. Schrei the title of this work, sold more than 1,5 million of copies worldwide, and what guaranteed their second album in 2007. Zimmer 483, the first English album. Since then, they collect awards, platinum discs, fan recognition etc,etc, etc.
Bill Kaulitz is the visual symbol of the band. Their lyrics reflect: Love problems, suicidal thoughts, Rebellion against the authorities of any kind [Schools of the country], life after death, despair ..
A kind of ´Recycled Romanticism´ loaded of gothic symbols that pushes the band to be called ´Emo´ And who says that the girls care about that?
Just like it happens with the nerd phenomenon -that has transcended between the decades of 1980 to 1990- it must have been a pride mainly for the youths of the new decade - it started to be cool to be 'emo' And talking about 'emo' Bill has 5 tattoos thought the whole body: Arms, abdomen, ribs and near the pelvis. The 'emos' love it!
