Alles begann bei den MTV Video Music Awards 2008 in Los Angeles: Tokio Hotel schnappten US-Star Katy Perry (25) den Award für den "besten Newcomer" weg. Diese Niederlage hat die Sängerin bis heute nicht verdaut und beschimpft seither die Magdeburger in ihrem Song "You're So Gay" ("Ihr seid so schwul" ).
Erst Anfang August trafen sich Perry und die Jungs von Tokio Hotel auf dem Singfest 2010 in Singapur. Zicken-Höhepunkt: Auf der Bühne sang Katy: "Ich kann nicht glauben, dass ich mich in Tokio Hotel verliebt habe. Ihr seid so schwul, ihr steht nicht mal auf Jungs."
Perry mogelte einfach den Bandnamen der Magdeburger in den Song – denn die Original-Textzeile lautet eigentlich: "Ich kann nicht glauben, dass ich mich in jemanden verliebt habe, der mehr Make-up trägt..."
Peinlich: Kurz zuvor hatten Tokio Hotel noch die Bühne gerockt. Doch Mädchenschwarm Bill lässt sich von dieser Attacke nicht einschüchtern. "Was Katy da macht, ist nicht schön. Aber sie ist eben ein eigenartiger Mensch. Wir haben sie schon ein paar Mal getroffen und sie benahm sich immer wie eine kleine Diva", zitiert die "Bravo" den 20-jährigen Popstar.
Auch die Fans der Band geben auf Perrys Anspielungen nichts: "Sie sind zu gut für sie – und solche Sachen machen es noch klarer", schrieb Melanie aus Michigan im Forum von "tokiohotelinternational.com", während Userin "Mariana&Tom" nur Spott für Katy übrig hat: "Arme Katy, sie ist ein bisschen traumatisiert."
