More than six million records sold, more than 300 concerts and 90 awards - world wide!  Tokio Hotel are among one of the most successful German bands of all time. But two years ago, the group suddenly took a break The twins Bill and Tom Kaulitz (both 23) moved from Hamburg to Los Angeles / California. Since then, there was absolute silence around the Super- Band No new music, no concerts. From time to time appeared a paparazzi picture of the native Magdeburger - that’s it! But now they’re back. As judges in the tenth season “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” they will be on TV from the beginning of 2013 on RTL. BRAVO met the coolest twins in Germany already during the filming of the first castings at the club “Felix” in Berlin. A nice reunion like with old friends. The BRAVO-Team accompanied the boys since their career start in summer 2005. What has changed? Bill looks visually totally different. He wears a beard, has many piercings and tattoos, looks more muscular. But he shines as before and told:
“We are doing really great.”
Thereby Bill and Tom have been criticized in last months by German media - they seem emaciated and totally exhausted.
“We didn’t bothered ourselves with it. The headlines repeat itself again and again. It was during our whole career like that. But don’t worry, we’re fine”, Bill makes clear.
After all, they had a long time to recover.
“After we moved [to L.A.] we relaxed first. We decided to take a break from the whole Media, no interviews, no photoshootings. Tom and I just needed a bit time for ourselves.”
That was impossible in Germany. Everywhere they were besieged. A normal life wasn’t possible anymore.
“In Los Angeles we could finally go to a supermarket or a movie theater again.”, Tom explains.
But even in the U.S. one knows the band now. Therefore paparazzis are lurking on them.
“You can’t avoid it in town. Sometimes I think no one recognized me - and then I get photographed anyway.”, says Bill.
“There are some idiots who follow us everywhere. But that’s okay.”
The boys didn’t just relaxed, they’ve also worked on new songs.
“It was really good for us to write songs and produce for a really long time without any rush. We’re on a whole new level. We’ve so many new material - most of it no one will ever hear.”, said Tom.
But when we will hear new music? When the new album gets released?
“We don’t have a date yet. We won’t rush ourselves.”
The wait on it will be sweetened by Bill’s and Tom’s participation as “DSDS” judges.
“The biggest challenge are the working hours during the filming,” said Tom, laughing.
“Here we have to get up at 6am every day! Normally we go to bed at this time …”
